Topaz Packaging introduces recyclable mailer to replace shipping boxes

Topaz Packaging introduces recyclable mailer to replace shipping boxesFor e-commerce shippers, Topaz Packaging has created padded and recyclable mailer packaging. The Wave Kraft paper-based substrate used in the packaging is intended to provide 50–80% more cushioning protection than traditional cushioned mailers or plastic.

According to John Lee, chief technology officer at Topaz Packaging, “e-commerce has exceeded the restrictions of older packaging types.”

“We designed this mailer to satisfy the growing demands of customers and companies for recyclability while providing the efficiency of an envelope and the security of a box.”

Transporting delicate goods

The e-commerce solution from Topaz Packaging is appropriate for delicate products including specialty foods, small devices, and cosmetics.

Traditional boxes are typically utilized for mailing such delicate objects, according to the materials science company that created the mailer. It adds that using boxes “leads to unnecessary waste: added DIM weight, added dunnage, greater inventory requirements, and additional steps in fulfillment.”

The company claims that because traditional padded mailers lacked structure and padding, it was previously impossible to move away from boxes for delivering fragile items. Topaz Packaging claims that this flaw is fixed by its mailers.

In compliance with the International Safe Transit Association 6 Amazon Overbox test standard, Topaz Packaging mailers have passed independent laboratory testing, guaranteeing that packaging can withstand e-commerce fulfillment. WaveKraft envelopes offer more shock absorption than conventional plastic mailers and other recyclable cushioned choices, according to additional drop testing, according to the business.

Additionally, 50% of the paper used to make the cushioned mailers is recycled and comes from FSC-certified paper mills. Additionally, How2Recycle has evaluated the mailer as “widely recyclable.”
